Back to China, at the heart of the MYUM workshop 🇨🇳

After several years of imagining, designing, and developing MYUM from France and now the United States, I finally had the chance to return to China — the place where so much of MYUM’s story comes to life.

I traveled to Shantou, in southern China, to visit the workshop I have been working with for more than 10 years.

As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by familiar faces — women I have known and worked alongside for many years, with whom we have built a strong relationship based on trust, respect, and friendship.

Today, more than 30 women work in the workshop. Behind every one of them is a family, a story, and a precious artisanal skill passed down through years of experience.

Here, nothing is mass-produced.

Every MYUM vegetable, fruit, doll, and little character is brought to life by hand, stitch by stitch. Crochet is a slow and meticulous craft that requires time, precision, patience, and care. Each piece is individually assembled, checked, and finished by hand.

And that is precisely what makes every MYUM creation so special and unique.

Walking through the workshop allowed me to rediscover every stage of the manufacturing process, feel the materials, exchange ideas with the team, and, above all, appreciate once again everything that goes into creating a MYUM toy.

For more than a decade, we have been moving forward together with the same vision: creating beautiful, joyful, and long-lasting objects, while protecting and celebrating traditional craftsmanship.

This visit was also a wonderful opportunity to share the new MYUM collections, discuss future creations, and imagine the next chapter of our adventure together.

And once again, I left with that special feeling I always have when I visit the workshop.

Because behind every MYUM, there is so much more than a toy.

There are hands, time, patience, women, families, craftsmanship, friendship, and a story that we have been writing together for more than a decade.

And that is exactly what I love about MYUM. ❤️

Still on the other side of the world, in the heart of Sanlitun, Beijing, Cabana designed a pop-up store entirely dedicated to MYUM.

Amidst Beijing's bustling streets, luxurious boutiques, and vibrant energy, our little VEGGY TOYS 🥕🥦🌽 had found their place.

Seeing them displayed here, designed thousands of miles from France yet so close to where they are made, was a magical moment. ✨

Creations conceived in France 🇫🇷, made with passion in China 🇨🇳, most of which are then sent to the four corners of the world... but which, this time, were sold right next to their place of manufacture. 🌎

A lovely nod to the journey of our little vegetables... which, for once, didn't have to go very far! 🥕✈️😉
