GOTS and OEKO Tex Class 1 Certifications, International Standards

At MYUM, product safety for toddlers is our top priority. 

MYUM controls its entire VEGGY TOYS production chain. We buy the raw material ourselves: cotton blossoms. We reserve some of this cotton for upholstery. The other part is spun and dyed in the colors of our choice to form the cotton yarn that will later be crocheted by our craftsmen.

This material, cotton, benefits from two certifications that we will detail below: GOTS certification (Global Organic Textile Standard) and Oeko Tex class 1 certification.

GOTS certification assures us of the environmental quality of cotton. Veggy Toys are made from 100% organic cotton. This demanding certification not only guarantees fair working conditions for the producers but also the respect of the environment throughout the manufacturing process, be it in the non-use of pesticides but also in the management of water. 

By choosing GOTS-certified cotton, we make sure that we use a material produced with respect for the environment and those who produce it. And at the end of the chain, it assures you of a product that does not affect the health of your little one. 

The second certification is the OEKO Tex Class 1 label. This is further proof of MYUM’s commitment to the safety and well-being of babies and children. This international label is awarded to the company that dyes and spins our organic cotton. It ensures the quality and safety of the dyes used in the process of transforming cotton blossoms into colored yarn. No harmful substances are used in this processing step. 

The Oeko Tex certification is divided into 4 different quality classes, and class 1 is the most demanding. It is intended for childcare articles. This way, the baby can safely wear VEGGY TOYS in the mouth.

These certifications certify that the materials used in our toys have been tested and approved for newborns and toddlers, meeting the highest health and safety standards.

Finally, every design created by MYUM is checked by an independent laboratory to re-test the material and mechanical appearance of the toys. These tests are mandatory for placing a new toy on the market. 

MYUM distributes its toys in France, Europe, the United States, and Japan. For each of these markets, MYUM subjects its toys to market-specific tests. 

For France and Europe, VEGGY TOYS comply with the CE EN71 standard. For the United States, it is the ASTM test, and for Japan, it is the ST2016 test. These tests cover all aspects of the toy, whether chemical or mechanical. The products are subjected to measuring devices, machines that bend them in all directions and do all kinds of chemical tests. The laboratory thus ensures the correct conformity of the designs and issues a certificate attesting to this fact. Under that condition, toys may be placed on the market.
